Kali was a go getting career type and entrepreneur working in fashion and beauty during her twenties. She then set up a wedding business and realised her self employed dreams, but also her chronic ambitious, workaholic identity. After having difficulties with pregnancies, she moved to the country in search of a more chilled out existence. Finally she gave birth to her long awaited daughter Flo in 2013. Happiness arrived in abundance but so did challenges and emotions she just didn’t know how to handle. Birth trauma then led to chronic PTSD and post natal depression.
Once a mother, she realised happiness was not going to come out of things she acquired or the achievements reached, she had so little love for herself let alone to give. The journey of self-belief and self-love began. Her spiritual path started when Flo was just over one. She felt trapped and struggled to find time to work, learn, create and connect with her emotions. She started to focus on self-transformation and mothering, studying a foundation course in Psychosynthesis. Realising connection was her deepest wound, it was hard to have the responsibility of motherhood, the ultimate connection. Losing freedom, identity and lack of family support caused a downward spiral of depression and self worth.
The best gift we can give our children and society as a whole is a soul engaged, happy and mindful mother… But how do we reach this equilibrium in today’s fast paced and driven society?!
She plans to find her voice, write it down and express, no more hiding. Sharing the journey from trauma to vitality and healing for both her and Flo. Photography has been her solace during the mothering years. She hopes to bring more creativity to mothering, so women can thrive and become more fulfilled.
