Power to the women Cause women got the power Sister can you hear it Getting stronger by the hour POWER POWER Power to the women On Saturday I joined a dear friend who I have known since we were 12 years old, to march for MILLION WOMEN RISE. Our stories have always been entwined and I'm so glad we came together to march on this day. We both became aware that abuse of women existed and had corrupted our maternal line at around the same age (11 years old). Kim is ...
A nurturing space for adults and children
Mamas, what has been the most depressing part of your mothering journey so far?? At the top of list is the lack of nurturing and welcoming spaces for mothers and children. We all know being stuck at home is isolating and suffocating. I have travelled far and wide, taking journeys of over an hour to seek solace in nurturing spaces. I often find my peace in the wild; walking in the woods and the fresh breeze at the beach. But it's not enough to visit there, I feel I have to live there, ...

Is your child suffering from toxicity?
Have you ever been told your child is toxic? The sad reality is that todays children are born into toxic environments everyday, we know the air we breathe is not the purest. They are exposed to so many toxins all overloading our body’s natural detoxification system. Todays mothers have a huge challenge keeping their children well, supporting their immune system seems to be a full time mind boggling job. Maybe you have an idea that something isn't right with their health. Mothers ...
The Invisible cord
The cord is never really cut and I really believe the way the cord was cut will dictate the attachment between mother and child. If cut gently, patiently and calmly then the connection can be the same, but if cut under shock and fear then the connection could be slightly more fraught. I have sensed this since my little one was born. Her cord was cut in a traumatic way. I felt the instant responsibility to heal the trauma, and it was completely overwhelming. Image via Александр ...
Mama health/wellbeing – A guide to intermittent fasting
Intermittent fasting (IF) is currently one of the world's most popular health and fitness trends. People like myself are using it to lose weight and improve health. Many studies show that it can have powerful effects on our body and brain, and may help us live longer! I came across an article about IF by Dr Mercola about 2 years ago, when I was still holding on to about 10 kilos of excess baby weight! I gave birth to Luca in May 2014 and although I breast fed, I was eating clean and ...
Musical healing
I was listening to a birth trauma webinar by Jennie Harrison (Enlightened mamas) a few weeks ago. Hearing her story took me back to my birth trauma which I'm still healing alongside my daughter. Listening in tears it was so enlightening to hear you can actually talk to your child about this trauma now.. This is something I just didn't think of doing, worrying Flo would be too young to connect with it. But we must remember we are always connected, age and stage does not ...
The essence of you – Inner Child
Who were you before the world told you who you should be? Who were you before the world got heavy, challenging or fearful? There is an essence in you that will always flicker, even through the toughest and darkest moments. It is our life challenge and purpose to find that spark and light it up bright once again. Life is full of so many twists and turns, most of them are there to wake us up to ourselves and our conditioning. (No babies were harmed in this photo, I think its was ...
Our triggered moments
There is a dark side of mothering which is hard to confront and fills us with guilt/shock/horror and subsequently a notion that leads us to beat ourselves up with mama guilt. BUT the dark side has purpose, a portal, a mirror for us to confront what is hidden within ourselves. We are human, but as mothers we are expected not to be - We want to be kind, happy, connected and caring every single day. It is simply not possible is it? Is there a superhuman mother out there? Please make ...
Princess Power
I was so proud of her, almost three years old and so anti dresses and princess dress up. She wasn't like the rest, not cutesy, pink obsessed or into frilly dresses. She was strong, determined, wilful and had a sense of adventure I was embracing. She was so different to me at the same age - I was rather prim, daren't get dirty or mess up my ringlets. I was raised on She Ra, the princess of power and Sleeping Beauty, the one who waited for the prince to wake her up - A complete ...
